Dr. Daniel S. Durrie is one of the most experienced refractive surgeons in the country and has been recognized as one of the ‘Fifty Most Influential Ophthalmologists in the World’. With more than 30 years experience in refractive and corneal surgery, he has dedicated his career to being a pioneer in procedures to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and presbyopia.
Dr. Durrie was one of the first surgeons in the United States to perform laser vision correction and has been involved in the development of nearly every refractive procedure and technology in use today. This expertise has led him to be named to Castle Connolly’s America’s Top Doctor list every year since its inception. He is a board certified ophthalmologist and member of the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Research
Durrie Vision has played a pivotal role in vision correction technology advancement over the years. Our surgeons have served as investigators or medical monitors in over 200 FDA clinical studies as well as conducted numerous in-house studies to refine and enhance the individual outcomes for the patient. By being at the forefront of research, Durrie Vision patients benefit not only from the knowledge of the outcomes of clinical trials, but also what is currently in the research queue for future advancements in vision correction.
Philanthropic Involvement
As a way of giving back to the community, Dr. Durrie is the founding member and Medical Director of Focus on Independence, an organization dedicated to providing no-cost vision correction surgery to people with spinal cord injuries.
Fun Facts
Dr. Durrie and his wife, Anne enjoy traveling and spending time with their grandsons. Their daughter, Erin Durrie Stahl, MD, is an ophthalmologist, fellowship trained in both refractive surgery and pediatric ophthalmology.
