LASIK Eye Surgery Technology

The best outcomes from LASIK surgery typically depend on two key factors: the expertise of the laser eye surgeon and a commitment to state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment technology. With over 30 years of experience, Dr. Jason Stahl is recognized as one of the nation’s leading ophthalmologists. Together with the team at Durrie Vision, he is dedicated to remaining at the cutting edge of surgical vision correction, continuously investing in the latest advancements to deliver safe and effective solutions tailored to your individual vision needs.

Our Technology

At Durrie Vision, all procedures are customized to each individual patient. During your consultation, our doctors assess your needs through an Advanced Ocular Analysis to determine the most suitable technologies and treatment plan. We utilize the following advanced laser technologies for our procedures:

  • Wavelight FS200 Femtosecond Laser
  • Zeiss VisuMax Femtosecond Laser
  • IntraLase IFS Femtosecond Laser
  • Wavelight EX500 Excimer Laser
  • VISX Star S4 IR Excimer Laser
  • Contoura/VARIO Topography-Guided Technology

Our Laser Platforms

Modern LASIK is a two-step process. First, the surgeon creates a flap in the cornea using a precise, femtosecond laser. This flap is then gently lifted to expose the underlying corneal tissue. In the second step, an excimer laser is used to reshape the cornea, correcting refractive errors such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism. After the reshaping is complete, the flap is carefully repositioned, allowing for quick healing and minimal discomfort. This streamlined approach results in rapid recovery and improved vision for most patients.

Femtosecond Laser Technology

The femtosecond laser is engineered for precise custom flap creation, ensuring safe and efficient procedures at high speeds. It separates the natural layers of the cornea by generating microscopic gas bubbles in rapid succession, facilitating bladeless SBK Advanced LASIK.

Excimer Laser Technology

The excimer laser is essential for achieving optimal outcomes in LASIK by reshaping the cornea to correct refractive errors. Operating at 500Hz, it features a powerful multidimensional eye tracker to deliver exceptional precision and safety.

Wavefront-Guided, Wavefront-Optimized, or Custom LASIK?

These are terms referring to technologies that are often used in conjunction with the lasers used in LASIK. Each of these approaches aims to enhance the precision and effectiveness of the procedure, allowing for a more tailored treatment based on an individual’s specific visual needs.

Wavefront-Guided LASIK Treatment

This technique creates a highly detailed map of your eye’s unique imperfections, including higher-order aberrations that standard measurements might miss. Our doctors may recommend Wavefront-Guided LASIK for patients with complex vision problems.

Wavefront-Optimized LASIK Treatment

This method employs advanced technology and proprietary techniques to develop a customized laser treatment for each eye. As a result, it aims to deliver crisp, clear vision while minimizing the risk of nighttime halos and glare after surgery.
